What is a repetitive stress injury?

When gradual damage to the tendons, muscles, and nerves occur due to repetitive motions, this can injure the body slowly.  While the tasks assigned seemed harmless, doing that task over and over again can create damage.

Over time repetitive stress can build up.  One such disease that has occurred to many that type a lot is carpal tunnel syndrome.  This occurs when people type all day and don’t have the proper set up to do so safely.  We might not see typing on a keyboard as harmful, however, doing it day in and day out without a proper setup certainly can be.  Carpal tunnel syndrome affects the movement of the fingers and wrists.

There is a board range of symptoms that are associated with repetitive motion such as:

  • Swelling
  • Moderate to severe pain
  • reduced range of motion
  • Noticeable weakness
  • Tingling or throbbing

While you might start off as a mild case, if you continue doing the repetitive motion you will find yourself having a more severe issue.  They could even get as bad as not being able to work or do your job properly.

How can an attorney help me?

If your repetitive stress injuries were the result of something that you do at your job day in and day out, workers’ compensation may help you get the medical attention and funding you need to get better.

These sorts of injuries typically don’t have the visible symptoms that other injuries have and are a bit more difficult to prove.  However, we have had success with these sorts of cases and are positive that we can help you as well.

We know and understand the proper channels that you should go through to get the proper diagnosis.  You will need medical advice from a medical team and also may be asked by the insurance company to be examined by their medical team.  Oftentimes these two find different findings, which is expected as their medical team works for the insurance company.  This is not surprising and it is not by any means an end to your claim.  They will try to tell you that, however, with experienced attorneys, this simply is not the case.

Repetitive motion cases are not something you should go about on your own.
